GRADUATION CEREMONY 2025
June 10, 2025
- Do not opt out of receiving Blackboard messages from Los Angeles Valley College or Los Angeles Community College District. Opting out will result in you not receiving an invitation and other important deadlines for graduation.
- Make sure to check your student email on a regular basis for important deadlines. Check your spam/junk folder as well.
- Make an appointment with a counselor ahead of time. The deadline to submit a graduation petition is March 14, 2025, so please make sure to meet with a counselor before the deadline.
- All graduates must report to Monarch Hall at 7:30AM. Monarch Hall is located in the Campus Center building.
- You must wear a black cap and gown.
- Stiletto Heels are not recommended. Wear flat shoes, wedges, platform, or comfortable shoes.
- Pets or animals are not allowed. If you have a service animal, please make sure to contact the Office of Student Life at least three days ahead of the ceremony. Emotional support animals are Not considered service animals.
- Children are not allowed to walk with graduates. Please make the appropriate child care arrangements.
- Only a max of four (4) tickets will be given to each graduating student for their guests. Lost or stolen tickets will not be replaced.
How to Purchase Your Cap and Gown
Students participating in the ceremony must wear a BLACK cap and gown. Please visit or contact the LAVC Monarch Bookstore at (818) 947-2313 for more information on how to purchase a cap and gown. Graduation merchandise will be available for purchase soon sometime in March 2025.
PRICES: These prices are from 2024 and are subject to change.
- Cap, gown and insignia tassel: $49.95 plus tax
- Sash: $44.95 plus tax
- Diploma covers:
- Gold honor cords: $14.95 plus tax (Student must be on a list provided to the bookstore to purchase this cord)
Can I share what college/university I will be transferring to?
Yes! We want to recognize all LAVC graduates who are transferring to four-year colleges and universities. Please read below on how to share where you will be transferring to!
If you want to share where you will be transferring to: Details to be announced in Spring 2025.
- Your name
- Student ID number
- Name of the university/college you will be attending
- A screen shot of your university/college acceptance letter with your name (block out your address and university student ID)
The LAVC Public Relations Office will start posting the names in June 2025.
Can LAVC share my photos and video on social media?

Receiving Your Diploma
Fall 2023 graduates may have received their diplomas already; however, Spring 2024 "Candidates for Graduation" should receive their diploma by mail after the start of the Fall 2024 semester (approximately in October, 2024).
Make sure that your address is correct on the Student Information System. To change your address, you need to fill out a change-of-address form in the Admissions Office.
Please note that the Graduation Office will first certify your spring semester grades in order to issue a diploma. Your participation in the graduation ceremony does not indicate you have completed all requirements for graduation
In the meantime, if you need proof of graduation, you may request an official copy of your transcripts from the Admissions and Records Office, or you can print an unofficial transcript from the Student Information System.

This event is an outdoor event. Masks are not required. Testing is not required.
GRADUATES: Leave your personal belongings with your family. We do not have a place to store your personal items. Do not bring your pets. You will not be allowed to walk.
